Small Press Comics

Many of the books in this collection contain extremely mature themes, language and imagery — We strongly suggest a reading age of 18+

This is a collection of Alternative, Indie and Underground Comix.
What are Alternative Comics, Indie Comics and Underground Comix?

Alternative comics are comic books that are intended for more mature audiences and generally stay away from the mainstream comic book themes, storylines, art style and also stay away from mainstream publishing.

An “Indie comic” is a comic whose creators are not bound by appealing to a larger corporation. The creators have complete control over their material and are not subject to rules and standards set by higher ups. The creators are “independent” of the company for the most part.

Underground comix are books from the 60's & 70's seen as socially relevant or satirical in nature. They often depict content forbidden to mainstream publications by the Comics Code Authority, including explicit drug use, sexuality, violence and oftentimes socially problematic behavior.

In other words, Underground Comix contain a lot of racist and sexist nonsense that everyone thought was really funny, progressive and thought provoking in the 60's and 70's. No one said they were smart.

You have been warned.
